Sales of expensive L’Oreal cosmetics kept rising in third quarter, Bloomberg reports. It was stimulated by higher demand on behalf of China. As a result, the largest producer of beauty products in the world was able to exceed analytics’ expectations.

Sales in luxury division, including Lancome and Kiehl’s, increased by 16%. Total sales were 6,47 billion euro, which is higher forecasted 6,34 billion.

The same wave of growing demand for luxury products on behalf of Chinese consumers supported growth of Kering, owner of LVHM and Gucci brands.

Sales in mass-market segment showed less optimistic results. Maybelline and Garnier brands were not able to meet expectations of analytics.

Recently L’Oreal is investing into digital services and is expanding its natural product lines.

Investors will be closely watching if the same trend will continue in fourth quarter amid escalating trade conflict between the US and China, as well as tougher rules for products declaration at Chinese customs.
