Even though exposure of European banks to Greek lenders weakened, financial system of the euro region, which is under pressure of Italy’s controversial budget and Brexit’s consequences, cannot afford another financial crisis, Bloomberg reports.

In August International Monetary Fund finished third program for economic support of Greece. However, now country may face another financial crisis, as its lenders are in bad shape. Solid positions of financial companies are the key moment for economic recovery. And although the government offered a few plans, there is no clarity on them yet.

The recent plan assumes direct subsidies for struggling borrowers. Another option offers creating special vehicle with government guarantees for non-paid loans. Third plan will form separate bank that will relieve other banks from bad credit.

It is still unclear, which plan will get green light and help the country’s lenders to reach a target for reducing non-performing loans volume by 50 billion euro till the end of 2021. By the end of June the volume of such credits was 89 billion euro.
