Management of German airline Lufthansa announced that it is going to actively participate in industry consolidation in the future, Reuters reports. Only three global air carriers will dominate in Europe as a result of this consolidation process.
There are too many players on the market now, Lufthansa’s leaders think, noting that six airlines went bankrupt in recent time.
It shall be noted that Lufthansa is already a key player in sector’s consolidation process. It bought Brussels Airline and parts of bankrupt Air Berlin last year to strengthen its positions in budget market.
According to Lufthansa, aviation sector of Europe will follow after Chinese, American and Middle East industries where only three major airlines operate. Consolidation will take place through bankruptcies mostly.
