Forecast for third quarter growth is 27,4% today. It is based on the earnings results from 381 companies of S&P 500, as well as on estimates for the rest. It shall be noted that forecast as of October’1st was 21,6%. Growth in first quarter was 26,6% and in the second quarter 24,9%.
The last time when those numbers were exceeded happened in fourth quarter of 2010 , when the growth was 37,2%.
Earnings this year were partially supported by tax reform approved at the end of last year. However, tariffs increase as well as other expenses for the companies makes investors and analytics expecting serious slowdown next year.
