Germany noted that too ambitious goals may hurt sector and jobs. The country offered to set 30% target. However, climate campaigners accuse Germany that it still did not learn how to be tougher with automobile sector, even after scandal with Volkswagen.
Restrictions on transport sector, which is today the only one where emissions are growing, will help to reach EU’s goals on reducing greenhouse gases emissions by at least 40% of 1990 levels by 2030.
Extremely high temperatures this summer intensified concerns about climate changes and, as a result, some countries proposed to reduce emissions with higher pace than was planned before.
