Italy is developing a plan to rescue Alitalia, Reuters reports. The state might take around 15% of air carrier along with investments of state companies and foreign firms.

Italy is developing a plan to rescue Alitalia, Reuters reports. The state might take around 15% of air carrier along with investments of state companies and foreign firms.

Last year Alitalia that used to be a symbol of Italy’s post was economic boom was placed under special administration. Within this process Rome is looking for a buyer of airline.

The government also issued bridge loan to Alitalia totaling 900 million euro to support activities meanwhile.

As part of state investments equal to 2 billion euro, Italian railway group Ferrovie dello Stato will transfer assets to Alitalia, which then will be converted into the stake. Such investments might present a great opportunity to railway carrier creating synergy in tickets and directions.

So far, EasyJet, Lufthansa and Wizz Air expressed interest in buying part of Alitalia. The government also offered Chinese companies to buy a stake.
