Pace of Chinese economy growth slowed down in August, while the leaders of the county are getting ready to new round of talks with the US, Bloomberg reports.

Increase of investments in fixed assets in first eight months of this year was the smallest since 1999, while investments in infrastructure grew just by 4,2%. This indicates that spending increase do not find direct reflection in economic numbers despite of industrial output and retail sales growth.

Slowing economy worsens China’s positions ahead of negotiations as well as puts it under new risks in case of imposition of tariffs on additional $200 billion Chinese goods.

Investments growth was 5,3% compared with forecasted 5,6% and 5,5% last month. Industrial output growth in August was 6,1%. Retail sales rose by 9%.

Jobless rate in urban areas fell to 5%. Production of computer and communication gadgets increased by 17,1% compared with last year, as exporters raised output ahead of tariffs.

Economists think that Chinese economy will slow down further in next couple months amid rising trade tensions as well as crisis of some emerging markets that will hit export growth.
