In order to get a place to live in the least affordable market in the world, buyers in Hong Kong are now looking for apartments that have size smaller than two parking spots, Bloomberg reports.

Demand for property objects with area less than 28 square meters grew in first eight months of 2018 by 52% compared with last year. Such apartments now account for 12,4% of sales in the city.

Fast price growth does not allow people with low purchasing power to buy a house, this is why potential buyers are now evaluate total sum of apartment value and are not looking for low square meter prices.

Hong Kong’s house prices grew this year by 14%.

Increase in demand for small apartments is also result of reduction in family size.
