It seems that Germans and Britons got tired from European heat. Reduction in late summer reservations and decline in shares of travel giant TUI by most in two years support this statement, Bloomberg reports.
It seems that Germans and Britons got tired from European heat. Reduction in late summer reservations and decline in shares of travel giant TUI by most in two years support this statement, Bloomberg reports.
As TUI notes, there is no signs of late season sales that usually rise during cooler summer seasons.
Heat wave that occupied territories from Ireland to Russia made local people spend their holidays at home countries. UK, which is the largest TUI’s market, registered the highest average temperature in June since 1940.
TUI’s shares lost 9,7%. Sales earlier this year helped TUI fill 86% of capacities. It is higher than in 2017, however, unusually hot weather will not allow company to reach planned 10% growth of EBITDA. This measure fell in third financial quarter after nine month growth.
Tourist companies still hope that people that stayed home during summer will spend their money on Christmas holidays.
