As batteries are getting cheaper and governments of many countries actively support use of electric cars, they will soon consume a significant part of energy produced in the world, Bloomberg reports.
According to the report of Bloomberg New Energy Finance, about 9% of world electicity demand will be from e-cars by 2050. Today this share is just 0,2%. In some places this number will be much higher. For example, in Germany this share might reach 24%.
Such growth is driven by lower price of batteries that, as expected, will drop by two thirds by 2030. New policy of energy companies that recommend cars' owners charge batteries, when demand is low and energy is cheap, will also stimulate growth.
Prices of batteries are falling faster then was expected before, Bloomberg New Energy Finance informs. It will stimulate electic cars popularity.
