Turkey will allow foreigners to make contracts in regards to real estate in foreign currency, Reuters reports. It means that regulations aimed to support Turkish lira were revised.
We would like to remind that in September Turkey made decision to allow transactions related to sale and lease of real estate only in liras, forbidding use of foreign currency in order to support local one.
Since falling to the record low level in August (7,24 liras per dollar), Turkish currency went up significantly, although it is still 30% lower than in the beginning of this year. On Friday lira’s rate is 5,3855.
Other exceptions from ban on using foreign currency were made last month, including business agreements, such as export contracts, capital markets instruments and trade contracts with foreigners.
